Hello Fellow Americans,
My name is John from Pittsburgh Pa, I work for a galvanized steel company in Pittsburgh and our product is galvanized sheet steel that is sold to numerous companies across the United States that make thousands of different products from appliances to gas pumps, ductwork, ceiling grid, electrical receptacles, building studs and on and on. Our business declined to 50% capacity and has gone up slightly but we are struggling to get orders. our business is driven mostly by the housing market which you know is down across the country. I still make a decent wage but my pay is based on the line running and producing steel. I go out of my way and will pay a little more to buy something made in America, I look up products on the internet and do lots of research before I buy something. When I go to a store I look at every label and at first my wife would get mad at me until I explained why it's important to our lives that we buy and spread the word about made in the USA..... my kids thought I was nuts too but now the kids(26yr old 23yr old) are looking at labels. my wife puts things back on the shelf if it's from China. I Love it..... I post a picture on everything I buy on Facebook page.... I will buy American made and post it here..... Keep up your good work and I will continue to do my part John..... American and Proud of it |

Tom O'Kelley,
I've always pushed Made in America. I became a Made in America fanatic in the mid 1980's.
I had back-to-back teaching jobs in the SF Bay area. I taught GED & high school courses to men & women who lost their jobs at a General Motors plant in Fremont, then did the same at the former Ford manufacturing plant a bit south in Milpitas. In both cases, the plants were shut down because Americans were buying foreign and imported cars. I drove my US and Union built Ford to work every day. Still do. |
Rich fom SockClip,
We here at Sockclip take Made in U.S.A. to a higher level. Besides making our product, including all the packaging unless impossible, in the USA we provide work for hundreds of developmentally disabled. You can read our story here: https://www.sockclip.com/disabled - I don't believe it is a decrease in USA product demand by the consumer as much as it is insistence on lowest cost regardless of quality from the retailers and resellers. Where we have experienced a tremendous amount of resistance from certain retailers due to the fact that we make our products in the U.S.A. we continue to stick to our beliefs and simply look for ways to reach the consumer without the retailer. If the American people better understood the true and accurate ramifications of sending so much manufacturing out of the country more people would insist on American Made and apply pressure to the retailers. Unfortunately we are predominately a disposable society where low cost is the major focus and as long as this mentally exists the struggle to make and sell quality products in the USA will also exist. It will take the coming together of those of us that do so to help cause the positive influence toward the change of current outlook and mindset.
